Connecticut Interscholastic Ski League

The Connecticut Interscholastic Ski League (CISL). Is made up of girl's and boy's teams from public and private high schools. It is a statewide program with training and racing at various ski areas throughout the state.

2011 CISL Championship Race:

THE CISL BOARD OF DIRECTORS WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE THE FAIRFIELD HIGH SCHOOL BOYS AND GIRLS SKI TEAMS FOR THEIR SEASON SWEEP - WINNING THE REGULAR SEASON AND STATE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

How the CISL Works:
Team
The League is divided into two conferences, "S" and "L," according to school enrollment.
Each varsity team is composed of ten skiers for each race. Of those ten, a minimum of six skiers who finish both runs is necessary to qualify a varsity team for any given race.
Additional racers on a team (#'s 11 and up) will be considered J.V. and compete for individual and J.V. team placement. (A minimum of four J.V. racers is necessary to qualify a J.V. team in any race.)
All teams race on each race day on one or two of the designated courses set on the hill on that day.
All teams; boys, girls and mixed (boy/girl) will meet each other once during the season.
Team racing order and course designation will vary and be assigned as fairly as possible.
Each skier takes two timed runs on designated course(s) to derive an individual total time.
The 6 fastest two-run individual times on each varsity team are added to calculate team total time.
Team total time is then compared against their competitor(s) for win or loss.
Teams must race a minimum of five team races to qualify for team championships.
Regular season conference championships are determined by final team records within each conference.
Teams whose overall League records vs. all opponents is .500 or better are eligible to compete in overall State Championships at season end.
The League overall open trophy is retired to a team that wins the championship three consecutive years.
Individual Student
Helmets, designed and approved for ski racing, must be worn by all racers at all times while skiing in any and all CISL GS races. Helmets or approved slalom specific headgear must be worn in CISL slalom races.
All racers may make two runs at each regular season race even if the first run is a DNF or DSQ.
Computer generated results show race times, team totals and individual comparisons.
A skier must race in four races during the season to qualify for individual/League championships.
All racers must be full time students in grades 9-12 at the Connecticut school they represent.
All skiers MUST be academically eligible for athletic competition by ALL of their school's standards.
